The Valley Chamber Gift Card is now available to purchase. The Gift Card program is being led by the Chambre de Commerce de Grand Sault/Valley Chamber of Commerce to support a variety of businesses in Drummond, Grand Falls, Saint-André and Saint-Léonard, following funding from the Canadian government and McCain Foods.
Valley Chamber Gift Cards will be available to purchase in denominations of $50 and from $100 to $500, at 20% discount, for a limited time, whilst Gift Card stocks last. Gift Cards to maximum total order value of $500 (including discount) may be purchased online and mailed directly to the recipient, or picked up from the Valley Chamber of Commerce. Valley Chamber Gift Cards can be spent with over 90 businesses in the area, including retail stores, restaurants and salons.
The Valley Chamber of Commerce received $21,000 in funding from the $700,000 provided to New Brunswick as part of the wider $2.7 million Atlantic Provinces allocation. McCain Foods in Grand Falls has also made a 2-year commitment to sponsor the Valley Chamber Gift Cards. This generous donation will allow local residents to purchase Cards at a discounted rate.
Aimee Ford, Planet Friendly Practices Project Manager & Thriving Communities Pillar Lead for North America at McCain Foods said:
“We are honored to partner with the Valley Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the Valley Chamber Gift Card and encourage residents to shop local to help fuel our economy. McCain is committed to building thriving communities and we look forward to future opportunities to support our community.”
Gilles Beaulieu is the Chief Executive Officer of The Valley Chamber of Commerce:
“I started with the Chamber in 2019 and saw the potential for a Gift Card program. In the 35 plus years I’ve been in business, supporting local has never been more important. Businesses have been affected by the pandemic for 2 years. It remains an anxious time for owners. If a business fails, jobs are lost and families are affected.”
Gilles continues: “Unlike other Gift Card programs that are just centred on the downtown, our Chamber supports and advocates for members from four municipalities, and the Valley Chamber Gift Card reflects that. Businesses can participate in the Gift Card program free of charge, and there’s still time for new businesses to get involved.”
“The Valley Chamber Gift Card is a means of bringing people together to support our businesses, not just during the holidays but throughout the year,” Gilles adds. “Our ethos is that local shopping is a way of life. By changing our shopping habits, more businesses will survive. The Gift Card launch offer means consumers can buy a $50 Valley Chambers Gift Card for $40, or a $100 Gift Card for $80.”
The technology for the Valley Chamber Gift Card is provided by fintech Miconex in association with international payments technology solutions provider EML Payments. Miconex operates its Downtown Gift Card concept in Canada and the US, and over 100 Town and City Gift Card programs in the UK and Ireland.
The Valley Chamber Gift Card is issued by PACE Savings & Credit Union Limited. Card funds are not insured by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) or any other government deposit insurer or agency.
