The inaugural Miconex conference in Ireland - maximising Gift Card success

On 15th May 2025, Miconex held its inaugural conference in Ireland at the Mullingar Park Hotel focused on maximising Gift Card success.


On 15th May 2025, Miconex welcomed clients from across the Island of Ireland to the Mullingar Park Hotel for a day devoted to 'maximising Gift Card success: insights, strategies and opportunities'. It was a superb day of networking, and sharing ideas about maximising success in a friendly and supportive environment. 

Miconex's CEO Colin Munro kicked off the day with a welcome, a introduction to the team and a chance for delegates to introduce themselves and their Town & City Gift Card program.

David O'Neil, Chief Commerical Officer then took the baton with an informative session on using in-person sales to drive a successful program though Sales Points, Load This Card and kiosks, including a presentation by Brian McAreavey from kiosk operator Clearhill.

Davin Doherty, Head of Customer Experience, Ireland and Mark Cunningham, Business Development Manager, Ireland then took to the stage for a session on maximising corporate sales, including the 4Ts and videos from corporate customers explaining why they chose to support local with their staff rewards with Town & City Gift Cards.

Kelly Topping, Head of Marketing at Miconex and Mark Cunningham, Business Development, Ireland then hosted a session on using digital channels to promote a Town & City Gift Card program. Mark told how digital was instrumental to the success of the Love Sligo Gift Card, led by Gail McGibbon of Sligo BID, and Kelly shared how the Annual Promotional Plan can be used to drive program awareness and sales. Michelle Aylward, CEO of Tipperary Chamber explained how they used digital marketing to drive awareness and sales of the Love Tipperary Gift Card.

Lunch followed with time to relax and network with programs from across the island of Ireland. Then, it was back into a session led by Davin on minimising friction and maximising advocacy with merchants, including education/awareness, communications, insider tips. Delegates also heard from Noelle McAloon from Enniskillen BID on how they created such strong merchant advocacy. 

David and Kelly then kicked off a session on Miconex support including tools such as the Notion Knowledge Base, marketing and promotion, corporate success and bespoke tools, including a look at the products and services brochure, the corporate brochure, Miconex client newsletter, The Great Gift Card Giveaway campaign, PR, onboarding support, reporting, sponsorship and more.

Peaking at Peak was the penultimate session, again hosted by David, including a timeline for perfecting peak, program hygiene factors, planning, building awareness, consistent peak messaging and the final push.

The day concluded with a session hosted by Colin on 'the art of the possible' featuring Toni Forrester, CEO of Letterkenny Chamber and Noelle McAloon Manager of Enniskillen BID, sharing their program stories and tips and advice for maximising local Gift Card success.
